Report: Moscow, Riyadh should maximize trade

MOSCOW, Oct 12 (PRIME) -- Russia and Saudi Arabia should try to maximize their trade without focusing on a single industry, Saudi Arabian Energy Minister Abdulaziz bin Salman Al Saud said in an interview to Rossiya 24 television channel broadcast on Thursday.

“We should try to maximize our joint trade and joint investment, and we shouldn’t focus on a specific sector of economy,” he said, adding that the two countries should expand their relations as soon as an opportunity for mutual benefit arises.

The two countries should engage in development of energy technologies, including technologies for reduction of carbon emissions, he said.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said that Russian and Saudi companies express great interest in cooperation in different industries, including energy, transport, and public utilities. In January–September, the trade turnover of the two countries grew by 20%, he said.
